IN THE BEGINNING…
…There was LAS OLAS BEACH CLUB of Satellite Beach, Florida begun by Thomas and Violet Matey of Las Olas Resorts, Inc. in 1979 after moving from the Chicago area. It was among the first timeshare resorts in the United States. The 40 unit complex, directly on the Atlantic Ocean, opened the doors of it’s north building on Valentine’s Day 1981 and the south building opened April 1984. At some point in time, each of the Matey 5 children Ann, Tommy, Christina, Becky and Maria have all been employed in this family business. Christina began as the bookkeeper for Las Olas Resorts, Inc., the Developer of Las Olas Beach Club and Tim served in maintenance reception and sales.

When the Mateys, as Developers, turned the resort over to the Owner’s Association in 1987, Christina Matey Nolan and her husband Tim formed formed Tilan, Inc., to manage the affairs of the property.

TILAN, INC.
Tilan, Inc. is owned by Tim and Chris Nolan. Tim hails from Pittsburgh and Chris from Chicago. The pair met at Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama in 1981 and have been inseparable ever since. Chris had been employed as the bookkeeper for Las Olas Resorts, Inc., the Developer of Las Olas Beach Club and Tim served in maintenance, reception and sales. The Tilan corporation and Nolan marriage were both created in 1986.

Tilan, Inc. has expanded to include management at Oceanique resort in Indian Harbour Beach and assists also with aspects of the Las Olas Beach Club of Cocoa Beach.

Tim has a bachelor’s degree in biology (thus our resident sea turtle and right whale expert) and Chris has a bachelor’s degree in business management. Both have Florida Real Estate Broker’s licenses and Community Association Manager’s licenses. They live in Satellite Beach.

Thomas and Violet Matey began Las Olas Resorts, Inc. in 1979 after moving from the Chicago area. They built Las Olas Beach Club of Satellite Beach. It was one of the first timeshare resorts in the United States. The resort is also one of the few timeshare resorts that sits directly on the Atlantic Ocean. The north building opened its doors on Valentine’s Day 1981 and the south building opened April 1984. They then began construction on Las Olas Beach Club of Cocoa Beach in 1986.

When the Mateys, as developers, turned the resort over to the owner’s association in 1987, Tilan, Inc. took over management. Tim’s wife Chris is Tom and Vi’s daughter. Tom remains president of the board of directors.

There are 40 2 bedroom/2 bath condominiums and all suites are oceanfront. The first floors are garages while the second thru fifth floors have 5 condos per floor. The condominiums are 1600 square feet each and 200 feet consists of the oceanfront balcony. There is a pool and hot tub between the buildings.

They all have king size beds, three TVs, full size washers and dryers and fully stocked kitchens. All linens are supplied. Wireless Internet is offered in every suite for free. All condos have spectacular views of the ocean. The suites as well as common grounds are constantly being updated to keep up the resort’s reputation of top quality.

Las Olas is a Gold Crown Resort with Resorts Condominiums International and has been since the program began in 1992. It has also been a member in good standing with the Melbourne Chamber of Commerce since 1979.

Guests return year after year enjoying the family oriented activities such as the Thursday potluck barbeque and Sunday Continental Breakfast and Orientation. Most of them think of Las Olas as their home away from home. The kids who grew up vacationing at Las Olas are now bringing their kids to start their own memories.
